Explanations of the IELTS test itself and the UK PLUS IELTS Official Test Centre for those sitting the IELTS for the first time.
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System, and is a evaluation test designed to serve as proof of practical, international English ability needed for study abroad, immigration, and work. It is jointly managed by Cambridge Assessment English, the British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia, and its scores are accepted by over 11,000 organisations in 140 countries worldwide.
In Japan, several corporations administer the test, including the Eiken Foundation and the British Council.
UK PLUS opened its test centres in partnership with the British Council in 2021, in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
Widely accepted worldwide as proof of English proficiency
More than 11,000 organizations in 140 countries recognize IELTS scores.
This is the most suitable test for proving English proficiency for study abroad, working, and immigration to the UK, Canada, Australia, the US, and the English-speaking world.
More and more Japanese universities are using it for their entrance exams as well.
Interview-style Speaking test
Speaking English is a matter of communicating with the other person. For this reason, the IELTS Speaking test is conducted like an interview, one-on-one with the examiner. At UK PLUS, Speaking tests are conducted with the Video-Call-Speaking (VCS) system.
The examiners are off-site, so that the Speaking test is conducted via online video call.
The Video-Call-Speaking system Speaking test has the same content, score structure, test time, time allocation, difficulty level, question format, and standard of security as traditional face-to-face Speaking tests.
There a few types of IELTS tests, but the following two are avaliable at the UK PLUS IELTS Official Test Centre.
