How much does it cost to sit the test? How do I pay?
The price is JPY25,380 (tax included). You can pay by credit card, via online transaction. (VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, JCB, Discover, American Express)
Is it possible to cancel or change my test after I've applied?

Application Process
Make sure you have a valid passport for test day.
You need a passport in order to apply for and sit an IELTS test. If you don't have a passport, you will need to have one issued before you can sit any IELTS tests.
To apply, you will need:
1) A passport that will be valid on test day 2) A credit card 3) A computer or smartphone

This will redirect you to the IELTS test-taker page of the British Council site. You can check the procedure in the "Application Procedure" document before you jump to the application page.
Please complete all steps within 25 minutes.

Please create a new account for the British Council IELTS test-taker page. If you already have a user ID, please login.
Pay the test fee
Once you have completed the IELTS application, please move on to the payment screen. Please input credit card details and other necessary information and make the payment.

You can apply for your IELTS test from this page. Please have your passport and credit card ready when you start the procedure.

Confirmation Notice
The Confirmation Notice has details of the test venue address, contact information, registration times, important notes, and what to bring. Please be sure to read it ahead of test day.
There are procedures such as ID checks (finger prints, photography) before the test on test day.
If you are late for the appointed registration time, you will not be able to sit the test.
Please be sure to download the Confirmation Notice and check the date and time that you need to arrive.
A passport that is valid on test day (the same passport used for the application process)
Water in a transparent plastic bottle (with the label removed)
You May NOT Bring into the Test Room
Watches (there are clocks in the test room), handkerchiefs, coats, lap blankets, wallets, electronic devices, glasses cases, pen cases, mechanical pencils, any drink other than water, or food are not allowed.
Please store these items in the lockers (or, depending on the test venue, in the cloakroom.)

Cancellation Policy in Case of Typhoon or Heavy Snowfall
We will consider canceling the exam when a storm warning or heavy snowfall warning is issued for Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo for the Tokyo venue and Nakamura-ku, Nagoya for the Nagoya venue.
If the exam is cancelled, we will notify all the test takers as soon as possible and reschedule the exam or provide a refund at no charge.
If the exam is scheduled to go ahead as planned, we will not contact you, but if you are unable to attend due to public transportation delays, you may reschedule or receive a refund if you provide proof of delay along with a rescheduling or refund request form within 2 days of the exam (fees will apply as usual).
